Nepal Trip

Discover the Magic of Nepal

Nepal Tour October 19 – 29, 2011

Optional trek to Poon Hill (Annapurna range) – Oct. 29 – Nov. 2, 2011

Hosted by Carol Vernal, Founder and CEO of Children’s Medical Aid Foundation (CMAF). All trip proceeds to benefit CMAF.

Carol Vernal began her love affair with Nepal in 1989, when she first visited this unique country. She continued to visit frequently over the years and in 2004 she founded Children’s Medical Aid Foundation (CMAF) to help Nepalese children with disfiguring birth defects obtain access to life-changing corrective surgery. CMAF also works with Nepalese organizations to develop urgently need medical clinics and hospitals in rural areas of Nepal.

Carol has first-hand, personal knowledge of the culture and customs of Nepal, so you’ll be able to enjoy a unique experience on this trip. Join her to explore some of the most interesting places of Nepal and meet CMAF’s dedicated medical team members, Nepalese community partners, and the families with whom we work. The trip includes visits to Bhaktapur, Boudhanath, and Durbar Square, all UNESCO World Heritage Sites; the Kopan Buddhist Monastery; The Monkey Temple in Swayambunath; Nepalese banquet and entertainment in Bhansaghar; a full day of jungle activities, including Tharu dance and elephant ride; and sightseeing in Kathmandu.  We will be staying at very comfortable hotels for the entire trip.

The Nepal trip also includes opportunities to learn how religious and spiritual beliefs impact access to and delivery of healthcare in Nepal; what is different or similar between Western Medicine and Eastern Medicine; and the challenges of providing healthcare within the government and political environment of Nepal. Thirty CEUs are available for nurses.
